The morning heats saw the Girls 200 IM (pbs from Katie Mawdsley 2:28, and Lucy Davis 2:23.0), Boys 100BK (pb from Tony Lucas, 1:00.5), Girls 100FS (pb from Katie Mawdsley 1:01.1), Boys 200BRS (pb from William Beavan 3:01) and Girls 200BK.

The finalists for the evening session were:

Lucy Davis (200IM & 200BK)

Tony Lucas (100BK)

William Beavan (200BRS)

The afternoon session saw 7 heats of the Girls 1500m FS. Katie Mawdsely swam in the final heat and battled hard to secure a silver medal in a new PB of 17:44! Great job Katie... The first Gallica medal and a great swim!

The finals session was very exciting and was kicked off by Lucy Davis in the 13yrs 200IM. Lucy stormed her way to a new pb of 2:21 and took the gold medal in style after turning with the rest of the field at the end of the breaststroke leg, and then powering away to win by over a body length on the freestyle!!

Great job Lucy!

Next up was Tony Lucas in the 14yrs 100 Backstroke. He went out slightly slower over the first 50 but powered through the 2nd 50 to finish second by only 0.05secs! After not even making the top 10 at last year's Championships in this event, winning a silver medal is a BIG step in the right direction! Well done Tony!

Next was the Boys 11yrs 200 Breaststroke for William Beavan. After a strong start, William slipped off the pace to finish in 9th position, bettering his qaulifying position of 10th. His time of 3:02 was again, slightly slower than his heat swim, but a very good effort for his first National final! Well done Will..

Last up was Lucy in the 200 Backstroke. She attacked the race from the start and held an impressive pace through the middle hundred before finishing strong on the last 50 to secure a silver medal in a time of 2:21.8. Great swimming Lucy - a true fighter and an intelligent racer!

Tomorrow morning will see the Girls 400 Freestylers in action (Katie J, Katie M and Lucy) in addition to the Girls 4x100FS Relay (where Katie G will see her first bit of the action!).. The Boys 1500FS is in the afternoon, and Tony Lucas will be looking to add to his medal collection as he contends the fastest heat..
