North West Regional Short Course Championships 2009
8th November 2009
After another tough block of work in the training pool, the Gallica squad pulled out all the stops to fight for 20 well deserved medals at this weekend's Short Course Championships...

99% of our swims were done in 100% textile swimsuits (mostly jammers, briefs, kneesuits and costumes - all legal suits for next year!) in preparation for the much talked about bodysuit ban in January 2010. Every swimmer competed with grit and determination to achieve some impressive early season PBs. We can all now look forward to what could turn out to be a fantastic season for the whole Squad - onwards and upwards!

A round up of our medallists is as follows:

6 GOLD MEDALLISTS

Daniel Sliwinski (50m & 200m BRS Open Age), Megan Davis (800m FS Junior Age), Jordan Theaker (1500m Open & Junior Age), Steph Slater (50m BRS Open Age)

7 SILVER MEDALLISTS

Steph Slater (100m BRS Open Age), James Radcliffe (400m IM Open Age), Megan Davis (800m FS Open Age), Martha Hirst (800m FS Junior Age), Georgia Barton (200m FLY Junior Age), Jordan Theaker (200m IM Junior Age), Mens 4x100m Medley (Justin, Dan, James, Jordan)

7 BRONZE MEDALLISTS

Georgia Barton (100m FLY Junior Age), Justin Austin (200m FLY & 50m BK Open Age ), Jordan Theaker (200m IM Open Age), Shannon Loder (200m BRS Open & Junior Age), Mens 4x200m FS (Jordan, Justin, James, Mattie Hargreaves)

As ever, the Squad looked great on poolside with full team kit, and everyone turning up early to do team warm ups. I also thought the team support this weekend was the best I've seen! All the swimmers were up on their feet playing a huge part in our successes, by giving much needed encouragement to our 'warriors in the water'...

Thanks to all the parents too, who once again, turned out in force to raise the volume on the balcony!

Let's keep up the great work! We're gradually making progress and becoming a strong force; our unity and spirit was second to none and will carry us all the way to the top!

Remember: TURN UP - WORK HARD - RACE TOUGH

Louise :-)
