Louise Graham, Head Coach
I swam for City of Sunderland ASC from 1987-1999 and represented England and G.B. Junior and Senior Teams between 1993-1998. I retired in early 2000 after a road accident ended my competitive career as an athlete.

I started coaching in 1997 with the younger swimmers at Sunderland, and naturally progressed into the Head Coaches' position when I retired from swimming, aged 19. I moved to Leeds in Jan 2002 to take up an Age Group Coaching post and was selected onto World Class Start and Potential Programmes from September 2002. I have passed all available levels of the ASA Coaching & Teaching Education Programme and currently hold a Level 4 Qualification.

In 2004, Leeds were Top Age Group Club and National League Champions and I was selected by Bill Sweetenham, the NPD to work with an identified group of talented females named the Smart Track Group. I attended camps and competitions with this group including an altitude camp in Mexico and the World Cup Tour in Europe.

In 2005, British Swimming and UK Sport funded a 3 month secondment to New Zealands High Performance Centre. I coached the middle distance group and was offered opportunities to stay on and work there long term. On my return, Bill nominated me for the Elite Coach Programme through UK Sport. I was one of 10 successful candidates from over 70 nominations across all sports.

Elite Coach is, "A UK Sport programme designed to accelerate the development of coaches with the potential to be the driving force behind home medal success in London 2012 and beyond" and is best described as, "Being part of Elite Coach promises a challenging three year journey to coaching excellence. Tailor-made programmes are built around each coach, which allows them to develop both their technical skills by working with and observing the best in action and to develop the leadership skills which are the hallmarks of the most successful operators, not just from the world of sport, but in the world of business, industry and the arts."

I was originally seconded back to Leeds as a Sprints Coach and then Chief Coach, and have recently been an Assistant Coach at Loughborough Intensive Training Centre working with World, Commonwealth and British Record holders.

I have represented G.B. as a coach at all levels, including European Juniors (Pool & Open Water) 2008, World Cup Tour 2005, Senior Training Camps 2005,2006,2007 and World Long Course Champs in 2007.
